We've placed a large rooflight in the grass roof to the rear to give light to the middle of the land locked site. The porch to the front reverses the notion of a street of brick with windows for light, by having a frameless solid door with the glazed walls coming to meet it.
The roof is a tiny thin blade of mirror polished stainless steel and the structure that holds it is hidden in the timber of the door. There’s also a single stringer walnut staircase which glimpsed through the porch forms the start of an intriguing view, culminating with the glow of light from the roof in the kitchen beyond.
